Jochem & Sywert. Two brothers, one colourful idea.

We're Jochem and Sywert Grund. Together, we run Mascolori from Rotterdam: shoes full of character, unexpected colours and distinctive prints.

We like people who show their own style. Our designs take shape in Rotterdam and are made in small batches by the shoemakers we've worked with for years in Portugal. It's personal work, done with care and a great deal of enjoyment.

Jochem brings his love of colour, art and stories. Together with Sywert, he looks after the store, the webshop and the experience of everyone who visits us.

Mascolori on film

From an idea in Rotterdam to a pair of shoes made in Portugal. Meet the people behind Mascolori in two original films, each around a minute long.

Rotterdam roots. An independent spirit.

Mascolori might sound Italian. We do have a Mediterranean streak, but our feet are firmly in Rotterdam. This is where it began in 2011, where we sketch our shoes and where you'll find the Mascolori Store, surrounded by designs, art and the people behind the brand.

It started with Jochem Grund, a trip to Madrid and a pair of gold pointed shoes that got people talking back in the Netherlands. In 2011, Jochem and Raymond Landegent launched the webshop that grew into Mascolori. Those first eye-catching shoes led to designs of our own. The curiosity has stayed.

We look for unusual materials, work with artists and keep experimenting: an unexpected colour combination, a new pattern, a different texture. An idea gradually becomes a shoe with its own story.

Our designs take shape with the shoemakers we've worked with for years in Portugal. They know our styles and how to turn unusual materials into shoes you can wear.

Cutting, stitching, shaping and finishing: a shoe passes through many hands and processes. Handwork and machines each play their part. The films show the people and the work behind your pair.

We make small batches and keep developing new designs, giving a familiar shape a different character each time.
